hydraulic or cable clutch?

« on: January 22, 2008, 08:25:25 PM »
I've had the wonderful experience of driving a sporty 2 door with a hydraulic clutch pedal.. rather than a cable activated one.  even though I think it is easy to push ,  it seems like I have lost some clutch "feel".  Any body have a favorite clutch linkage?  I like a cable.  What does Nascar use? Clutches are over-rated.  Match your engine speed to your tranny speed and jam 'em in there.  Ret.Bugtech needs something to keep him busy and out of trouble!

Nice one, boys...
The phrase "synchronizers...they're not just for breakfast anymore" comes to mind.

Bring them on !!     Jam them gears !!   Put them EMPI, Hurst speed shifters on !!    Forget that clutch !!    I have a pile of previously tested tranny parts that need a home.   Do the right thing and donate to "The Albert  deAllison Restoration Fund"

Hey, David...
you forgot that little bolt on Empi short shift kit thingee.
Oh, and SC, they use a hydraulic system in the world of Nascar.
The WORST feeling clutch that I've sampled in a long time is the new Jetta/ Rabbit with a 5spd manual, 2.5 liter engine.  There's a difference of about 15mm in the pedal stroke between fully engaged/ disengaged.  And they're mushy as hell.  Kind of remind me of the old 50s Chevy commercials where the are demonstrating the new power steering with the lady in her sunday dress, using her finger tip to steer a 4000 lb car.
I almost always stall them the first time I get in one.  I'll keep my Golf, thanks.

Hey Grasshopper, I do my best to forget everything about "short shifters".

They were going to install the padding on the walls, but have elected to hold out for the new building instead.

Shucks!   All he needs is about 24" of padding.  Wrap it around his head like a Turban and then he could "pick" on any wall. Come to think of it, I have never seen a red headed Arab trader/terroist  He would look pretty cool riding around on a "slammed 2 humper" ( Camel to all you infidels)
