I was trying to replace the trans seal and main seal on the baja today and ran into some problems. I tried using the breakerbar, cheater and angle iron pieces I used to remove the last gland nut, but after applying my weight to the end, the breaker bar broke. So I returned it to HF and they quickly replaced it (fo' fre'!). That one lasted a few bounces longer, but broke just the same. I drug the engine up on a utility trailer and headed to my dad's garage.
All of his impact guns didnt cut it. The torque multiplier- broker one it got good and tight. So I headed back home.
I grabbed the piece of steel railing I cut off the wrought iron stair case in my house and decided to weld the extra (chinese) 36mm socket onto the end of it. I now have 10' 36mm box end if anyone needs to borrow it!

The weak link became the angle. I welded steel all around it to reinforce it. I put a piece of box steel inside the angle and a piece of steel pipe under the two bolt holes and overlapping the box piece on the inside. This is when the fit really hit the shan... It bent the piece on around and broke the engine mounting stud off!!! and then the angle was so distorted that I couldn't get the nut off it.

So now I'm back where I started: Needing the get the flywheel off to replace the main.
The broken list (so far):
-Two (2) breaker bars
-One (1) piece of reinforced angle
-One (1) torque multiplier
-One (1) engine stud
-One (1) Nick's back
Any advice would be appreciated as an otherwise simple task that was supposed to cost me $4 for the seal has now put me back quite a bit in tools.
For those who are concerned, the trans seal went in without incident!
