tires  $ 200
head gasket  time belt, water pump   900
clutch   300-400
transmission leaks oil  got to fill every 2 months
speedometter   dont need to fix but it bugs me,
plus cruise control is plumb dangerous when the speedometer is broke

make your decision after you find out the shape of the head.if its cracked you may come out better scraping the car.the crx i had(si) needed a new one.the po bought it for 500,bought new gaskets put it together and couldn't get it to start.i bought the whole thing for 500 got it home, corrected the timing(it was 180 out) and sold it for 1200.worst thing i had to do was retorque the head bolts and put a junkyard starter and muffler on it.the whole motor can be found used as well.i put one in an accord for my ex son in law that was found in the classifieds for 75 bucks.had to swap out the intakes but it ran and he drove it for a year and a half.theres lots of options, but i wouldn't spend 900 on the engine repairs.my daughters new beetle needed the 100000 mile water pump/timing belt service, the dealer said 900 to do it.i bought the same exact parts from orielly auto parts that came out or it and had it done in a day for less than 250.it just looked more involved than it really was.as for tires, shop craigslist.you'll be surprised at the deals if your patient

Pull-A-Part in East Atlanta has over 30 Accords on the lot right now (and there are two other lots in Atlanta, plus they also have lots in Knoxville, Nashville, and Birmingham . . . and lots of others, but those are the closest ones).  An engine is $164.51 including the core charge and warranty.  A tranny is $65.81, again, core and warranty included.  Shop carefully, take a core with you to turn in and don't get the warranty and you could pull you a good engine and tranny as a unit and get out for under $200.  A radiator will set you back another . . . never mind.  If you need a radiator, buy a new one . . . some things just aren't worth attempting to save a few buck over.

A good wheel with a good tire will cost you about 11 bucks each there.  You have to get to them quick though.  Good ones get pulled almost as soon as the car is put out on the lot.

Just my opinion, but I've become a big fan of Pull-A-Part.  If you want to attempt to do it yourself and your car isn't worth what it would cost to buy the new parts to fix it, they are a great place to shop. 8)

You gotta make sure you do everything to the t.  You can't halfway a head gasket and redo it with some sealant if you get it wrong.  good luck!

I dont like hondas cause the oil filter is between the engine and fire wall.  Who thought of that?  Our camry has it right out in front.

I still have the wrecked SUbaru and if I can just cut the front end off the honda and splice the front of the  suburu to it.  Hmmm.  ANy one got a zaazaw?
