Glove box key question

If you're out there, David, correct me on this one if I'm wrong.  I believe that the search area you need to aim for is for any '73 or later (curved windscreen) SUPER beetle glovebox latch (square face with release buttons on either side).  The lock from a '69 would be the same as any other standard beetle from '68 up through the end of production (twist/knob style).  To my knowledge they aren't interchangeable because the doors themselves are completely different.

:?  I've got a complete door . . . somewhere  :?   There isn't one on the trashed Super Beetle dash in my garage anymore . . . but it's around here . . . somewhere.  You can have it IF you still need it in a couple of years when I run across it looking for something else I can't find.

Someday I gott'a get organized!   8)

If you're still searching out this one, here's something to ponder on.  In the last 48 hours, I have seen TWO curved windshield Super Beetles, both with round, turn-knob glovebox locks.  They were both '73 models....Interesting, I've not seen this before and am not sure if the doors are different as far as the hole where the latch mounts.  But, if you snag one of these doors (and assuming they mount on the same hinges-I would not imagine them to be different), if your lock dies again, you can install the much cheaper and easier to procure knob.

Hmmmm, maybe they just changed the design of th door and kept the mounting points the same? I dunno, I haven't had time to really get into it. Kinda like Zen......one of these days.    :-)

I know the hole in my '74 door is square (well, maybe rectangular) and that a big rubber band looped around it and hooked on the screws that used to hold the catch in place is good to stop most small items from falling out of the glove box.   8)

Something Kyle reminded me of the other day . . . Vanagons, at least the early models, have the exact same glove box lock as the curved window Supers.  I found several later Beetle glove box locks at the show in Effingham, IL this weekend, but none for Supers.   :?
