Fuel injection problem - Is it brain-dead?

« on: June 27, 2003, 10:44:08 AM »
I traced the problem to the wiring to the injectors.  There is a wire from the resistors for power.  12V-no problem.  The other wire is from the computer and according to type2.com, should ground the circuit when it's time to fire.  12V here, too?!?  Why would the ECU send 12V to the injectors unless something's screwed up, or is there something I'm missing?  This is only the 2nd FI I've messed with, and the other car just needed new vacuum hoses.

Anthony, I talked to Kyle, and yes, he did have that same situation, but he told me that he later found out that both wires are supposed to be +12V.  The wire from the brain grounds to fire the injector.    ???   I guess that's just one more example of German eletrical logic . . . kind'a like making the horn hot and grounding it to blow it . . . or putting +12V to the idiot lights and grounding them to turn them on.

Okay, maybe not the computer, but something is definately keeping the injectors from firing, as tested by the light while Misty turned the key.  Bentley says it's supposed to flicker and it dosen't.
