Front Quarter Panel

Has anyone ever replaced a front quarter panel on a bug before?  I still need to find one to put back on it, but would like to know what you might know.

How much you needing to replace?  the front area, like where the bumper mounts are located, or the whole quarter section, like from the door forward?

I've done several of the forward sections, no complete quarters... you using a used/ donor section, or one of the new quarters.

At this time, I do not have a replacement at all.  Still looking for one.  Would rather have an original piece.  But, it may be more effective to purchase a new one considering the time it will take to remove one from a donor to replace onto my car.

You're prob. right jr.... especially since it can be hard to tell the exact condition of one in the junkyard, and trying to ship something like that off of the samba or whatever could run a bit pricey... should be fairly straight forward.  Why are you replacing it?

Because at one time it was crunched and semi straightened out.  There was bondo up to the door pillar.

Been there, done that on a 69 bug i used to own, mine was almost straigh, very little filler, so  i elected to just to the forward section.

I was thinking of doing the same but there is filler in the door pillar side of the panel for a reason.

Found a good donor body last night with what seems like a fairly good quarter.  Thanks to Fred for going with me, loaning me the trailer and helping me load it up.  Cost: $0, wait, gas money and eating out with Fred and family.  Nothing is ever free.
