floor pans

I would like some opinions on sealing floorpans. The outside of the Pan has bolts and a gasket but we are unsure how to seal the inner side of the pan the side by the shifter. Do you think Tar, Silicone or gaskets would be best or does it really matter?

Have you replaced the pans ?     I have used spray-on truck bed liner to go around the the whole pan .   Matter of fact I used this stuff to cover the whole pan on Albert bottom and top.  I would think you would need about 2-3 cans. It seems to go a long way depending how thick you want it and if you want to put it on the bottom. I went pretty heavy in the seams.  Its pretty tough stuff.  PEP BOYS has it. It also sets up fairly fast. We have stomped all over this stuff while putting Albert together and it has not given up yet.  Still don't have mats.

We have the old ones out and putting the new ones in next week. After pulling the carpet out I'm surprised the passenger didn't fall out in the road. We were just unsure of the best way to seal the pans in.  One person says Tar another suggest the silicone and even bolting it down.
Uh Oh I just realized I put this in the wrong section. It's a question not a tip.

Seam sealer, you can get it at almost any auto store. The undercoating is a good idea as well.
