Flasher aggravation

Okay, it's been warm for a while, and now it's pretty cold in the morning AGAIN, so my turn signal flasher decides that it's too cold to work properly. I need to replace it, and have but one question- WHERE IS IT? I turned my signal on, and opened up the hood to see if I could find the "click-click" of the signal, and thought that I found it, but when I went to the parts store, they said that I have a three-prong flasher, which I can't find. Am I looking in the wrong place, or is it tucked away somewhere clicking happily in the warm sun, laughing at my stupidity? If it is a three-prong, I can find it by matching the part.
Help, please.

Is it hidden up-under-behind the fuse box?  Somewhere near the door buzzer relay?

Correct me if I'm wrong, someone.

I think I may have found the little bugger, I want to ask here before I go ripping out something that isn't my flasher. It is a little box with three prongs coming out of the "bottom", located nearer the driver side, bolted "upside down" in the hood. Does it soudn like that's the right part?
Thanks for the help, Folks!

I don't have a 70 Bug to check it by (your's is a 70 isn't it?) but from what I remember about the two 69's I've had, that sounds right.

Hiya 70,

The turn signal flasher unit in a 1970 VW Bug is mounted on a metal stalk just to the front of the speedometer.  The OEM unit is a black plastic box (211 953 215C).  It is approximately 6.5 cm x 5 cm x 2.5 cm  It attaches to the stalk with a central screw.  This unit is a four prong unit.
The unit previously mentioned in other posts in this thread is most likely actually the door buzzer.
