I pulled the engine on the bus tonight in order to fix the oil cooler leak.

Godfather, If I pull the heads do you have time to look at them and do any necessary work with in the next week?

Brian,  Can do.   Count on replacing at least the Exhaust valves.  Do you want to get them ?    I think the part # is 311-109-612 .   4 please.  If you get them just ask for 1600 valves ( not injected)

Nice if you have them and can make them fit.  Sometimes they can be
"cranky" about fitting just right.  If you don't have them, Don't worry about them. Look how long the van has lasted without the Super Tin. 8)

On the type 3 tin . . . if you don't have any DON'T BUY THE EMPI BRAND!  Been there, done that.  It would have been easier to start with a flat piece of sheet metal, tin snips and hammer and make my own.  After quite a bit of cutting, bending, cussing, etc., I got one side on in one piece.  The other side ended up in two pieces and was held in place with bailing wire.  After all the trouble, I couldn't really tell any difference in the engine temp with the tin in place.
