Electric Choke

« on: January 26, 2005, 10:06:20 AM »
I have a Solex 30 pict 2 that I recently rebuilt and I have everything adjusted except the choke.  I need it to stay on just a little bit longer, how do I make it do this?

Hey, Not a problem. If your choke element has a notch present, it should be lined up with the raised indicator cast in the metal housing holding the choke element. This the normal setting. If you think you need a little more time with your choke on, you can loosen the 3 screws and turn it a tad counter clockwise to add choke time. This is a trial and erro thing. Are you using a stock air cleaner with a pre-heat pipe or some "micky mouse" cleaner ?  With this kind of weather, Pre-heat is good. Most VW stock engines love warm air in the winter time just like me.

Yew I do have the stock oil bath, so I am feeding it warm air all of the time.

Good !! Its nice to know that some people are not trying to second guess Wolfsburg all the time. They figured this all out a very long time ago.
I didn`t mention this before,  but do those adjustments when the engine is cold and make sure the choke is not binding anywhere. Press on !!
