EGR Light

« on: February 01, 2010, 11:35:18 PM »
Sweet Pea's EGR light came on tonight.  Didn't run rough or funny.  Atwell says it comes on every 15,000 to remind you to visit the dealer for an emmissions test.  Can I reset it or is it indicating real trouble?  I don't live in Hamilton county & don't feel like dropping $300 + for a nonessential.  Any insight?

I'd bet Sweet Pea doesn't even have EGR anymore. You're right, the light comes on every 15,000 miles to remind you to change the filter. You can reset it yourself. Remove the front kick panel on the driver's side and follow the speedometer cable coming from the back of the dash down to the floor, you'll see a little black box connected inline. On that box is a reset button. Hit it, and you're done.
