How do I change the fuel filter(s)? I can't find where they're located. Also do I need to get new filters from VW or can I pick them up anywhere?

Also I looked for this reservoir which is supposed to collect water condensed from the fuel tank, but I couldn't find that either.

Also, how can I more permanently affix my bumper cover to the front? It's on there, but very loose. I'm afraid one bump will be all it takes and then I'll be spending an hour with Harry Guinn digging bumpers out of weeds in his back yard again.

Russ, A filter should be on the pass.side, under the hood, mounted to the inner fender well. About 3-4inch dia. and about 8-9 inch long. Follow the fuel line from the Injection pump .  A water separater res. should be under the car right in front of the right rear wheel mounted on the body. Stick with org. VW stuff. I don`think they have moved them very far away since I quit working on them. You have to have ALL the proper fittings in good shape to make the bumper cover to stay put.

I'll look again...but I don't remember seeing them  :-x

How often should the filter be changed and the reservoir drained, anyways? I may have to bring it by for "service".

On the bumper, I can get it to "snap" on but I guess vibration just makes it loose over time. I checked again the other day and it's not attached at all, just "sitting" there.

I find it hard to believe there isn't a bolt or some other way of securing it other than these tabs.

Dang !!!   Its got to be somewhere.  The fuel filter use to be on inner fender well on the right side. I might be having one of those Senior moments. Front bumper cover ?  Can we say CHEAP DISTORTED BROKEN PLASTIC PARTS ?  You might just let everything fall off thats going to fall off,but keep on driving the thing until the faithful old diesel finally craps out in about 8 zillion miles. Then give it to Angel to make a planter box out it or give it to that weird Dude that lives on McDonald Rd. for a supplementary Cat House.   What do you think??

I think this car needs to last long enough for me to save up and afford a Mercedes-Benz Turbo Diesel, that's what I think :o
