Converting 69 VW Superbeetle from to stick to autostick

« on: November 24, 2007, 04:11:42 PM »
I have a motorcycle trike which is supposed to be powered by a 1969
Superbeetle. It is set up as a manual, but I had a stoke and am clumsy
shifting the gears. I want to convert it to an autostick, which I bought on Ebay, no guarentee on condition. Is there a way to check and see if the transmission and torque converter are in useable shape without hooking it
up first?.

Any help on how to do the conversion properly would be a big help.
Thanks

Other than taking the transmission apart and inspect NO.  Did you buy everything that has to do with the operation of the auto-stick, vacumn tank, ATF tank, engine oil pump, crankshaft flex plate, and other stuff ?
To be honest ,with your health problem. I would have gone with the Type-3 ( square back, fast back)  fully automatic 3 speed  tranny. A whole lot easier to deal with .  Finding a good one may be a problem.
