Collars for the fan shroud to muffler

« on: May 30, 2005, 08:51:55 PM »
Hey there David,
I was struggling with something. I tryed to put the collars in the muffler to the fan shroud, and they are the same size it won't fit. Is there any others? Any Other Ideals? This is all that I need to hook up in order to have the engine finished..  I don't want the new engine to over heat. Due to this. Help..

This has always been a problem with aftermarket collars it seems. They make them too good. You could try to find some old used up originals or grind a bunch of metal off the short end to reduce the dia. Its a "do what you have to do" kind of thing. You can still drive the car if you block off the the fan shroud outlets until you can fix things.  Elect. tape, rags,etc..  will not "get it". Most of the time ends up in the fan. :(

David,

I was thinkin about grinding it down. that way it would get a little smaller.. To fit in there. I will not put tape or rags in my fan shroud. I have worked hard to get this baby rolling and won't throw it all away for a Mcgyver Method.. Thanks man.. Hey that tick sounds like it is comming from the number one cylinder valve. Just wanted to let ya know. Bye
