My problem is i'm looking at two Busses for sale a 77 that does not have a motor or tranny, but the body is in good shape. Headliner, floor and brakes feel good. $650.00  The other is a 73 it is a auto stick ,the photos look pretty good. Don't know much about automatics in vws. $1,300. Any input would be appreciated. If y'all think the 77 would be the better way to go, any idea were I could pick up a motor or tranny? Thanks Greg (you can e-mail me at joshretla@yahoo.com)

Boo autosticks, both of them seem expensive to me.  Don't know about motors .  Look on http://www.thesamba.com  for what you might expect to pay.  Cheers SC

Vans do not have auto-stick.  Only 3 speed fully automatic or 4 speed straight shift.  If I just had to have one of them , It would be the '77 if it was a 4 speed straight shift. If you have no experence with VW you might be getting over your head.  You would be better off just to find one already fixed up ready to go. Good luck!!!
