Ok I am taking David's advice and asking before I do.....
opinion question...I am seriously thinking of replacing certain body parts such as front fenders and rear deck lid instead of having them repaired. That way I know the body will be smooth.  Is it better to fix or replace in your opinion?

If it were me, I would have to weigh a few ideas.  First how much would it cost to make my OG stuff useable?  How important is it that you have OG sheetmetal?  New sheetmetal is made of aluminum cans (thin).  Would it cost the same to fix the OG stuff as it would to buy new stuff?  Just my opinion.

I don't know about that. I forgot what you have as far as condition goes but I would be inclined to repair if possible rather than replace because of the quality of replacements parts are not very good from what I have seen. Nothing fits very well. Then there the rear deck lid. You don't want to even talk about that one. Check your catalogs about the "vert" deck lids in metal and not fiberglass if they even make them. A GOOD body man should be able to get things smoothed out just fine I would think. You get what you pay for.
