Beam build

« on: May 21, 2009, 02:56:47 PM »
I got bored today and rebuilt my beam. Mine was pronounced doa when we pulled it from the 62.Only the tag remains.
I took a Ridemaster 6inch kit trimmed 1/4 inch off each side to make it
6 1/2 inches narrowed. welded it up put the urethanes in and presto! another beam.

Sorry Like I said I was bored.
This kit only cost $175 and is easy to build. I have another 6 inch link pin kit in the garage if anybody is interested.

Funny thing is I built myself a beam with no car to put it in. Must be getting optimisitic in my old age.
I thought it came out pretty good for a bored afternoon project.

Heres a hint on something...URETHANES. They dont like to go in and they sure dont like coming back out. Bevel the edges to a 45 degree angle on them and take a belt sander and roll them around on it first to take just a slight bit off.. If not your gunna go nuts and no matter how much you whack em with a mallet they aint goin in. Dont sand on them to much or they wont stay in. Just a lil bit will do it.

Thanks JR I'm not back to full wrenching speed but even a 1 armed guy can weld a lil.
