Run positive power to the light unswitched (but run it through a fuse of course).  Run a wire from the idiot light terminal on the regulator (#61 if I remember correctly) to the idiot light.  That's the light's ground circuit.  The ground is switched on and off inside the regulator to turn the light on or off.

alright, I got it wired.. but i think my motor has a 6v flywheel!?! the starter does all it can do but dont reach the flywheel????????

I could be wrong here, but I think the starter ring is at the same depth on both the 6 volt and 12 volt flywheels.  The differance is the diameter and number of teeth.  I think if the flywheel and starter are mis-matched either way, contact will be made but it will grind.

After further inspection .. The starter seemed to work fine. its an autostick starter.
Its not hitting anything but i noticed the bellhousing is 10mm deeper on this one than the one with early style t/o bearing.. is there a special starter for it????

You could just use a late bus starter..I have a used 1...would trade for your auto starter as i can't use it in the bellhousing I have for ground hopping engines...even have a new bushing for the nose.
