another regulator issue

I revamped my charging components, since the ones on the car came from the factory!  I asked a few questions about newer technology components and was told by Bobby Hixson that over time a solid state regulator would cause a generator to throw lead. He said he had seen it on more than one occasion, anyone else ever ran into this gremlin?

Haven`t heard of any.  The new s.s. reg. made by Bosch hasn`t been out long enough . These regs were made for gens. to replace our old mech. regs. If you use anything but Bosch, you are asking for trouble. Even the mech.reg will melt things if they get a little demonic.

another regulator issue

For the past three years I've been fighting a never ending battle with my 73 bus's electrical system (It is type one powered and charges with a generator) . . . I've lost track of the number of batteries, generators, regulators and starters I've bolted on it.  About a month ago I replaced my cheap aftermarket regulator from AutoZone (about the 5th or 6th one I've gone through) with a Bosche solid state regulator . . . I've gone a month with no starting or charging problems.    My lights don't surge from bright to dim at night . . . when it's 20 degrees it'll still spin the engine fast enough to start and even has enough juice left over to run the ignition system!  If the battery I put in it a couple of months ago last till spring, I'm declairing my problems cured.  :D

So far that regulator has been one of the best $33 part I've bolted on.
