Last Friday, Russ backed Juliette into the carport for me to adjust his rear brakes. A job that should take no more than 20 minutes and the biggest part of that time spent getting out the jack and jack stands and raising the bus.
After getting the bus off the ground what do you think I found? Yep, you're right! The adjusters were frozen solid.
Well, we worked that evening and started early Saturday morning cause now the wheels and drums had to come off and worked the better part of the day on those #!!*%@* adjusters and finally got them off and working and put back in place with a liberal coat of (Yeah, you guessed it) ANTI-SEIZE!!!!!!! Everything went back together and we adjusted the rear brakes and got in to check the emergency brakes (the main reason for adjusting the brakes) pulled on the handle and guess what happened? Yep, you're right, one of the brake cables snapped!!!!!!!!!! The preacher across the road is STILL praying for me. Everything had to taken back apart and then I started a diligent search for a new brake cable.
It was Memorial Day weekend Folks and guess what, none were to be found in Chattanooga or Cleveland. I had to wait til Tuesday morning and order them.
They came in yesterday afternoon and everything was put back together, adjusted and now you won't have to be concerned about parking in front of or behind Russ (or should I say Juliette) on a hill.
The moral to this story? Please use ANTI-SEIZE where applications call for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't let a 20 minute job turn into a 5 day job.
