Herb, I just read your post on the Box thingy. This is what I`m talking about .  If you had not found about the h.Box thing you would still have rusty boxes.  VW sure as heck wasn`t going to tell you or the orginal owner about the problem unless you hit them the head. If a person thinks he has a issue with a warr. problem. do not hesitate to call VWOA and be nice but firm. With all the competition that VW has ,they are not in the position to give anybody a lot of flak.

Thanks everyone for the information about my car's catheter. I stopped by Al Johnson's VW in Dalton today to get a new fuel cap, since mine was badly cracked. It was only $7.22 including tax for the original "Made In Germany" cap. I left the catheter in the Jetta and didn't think to have them look it up for me  :cry:

I also scored an original owner's manual off eBay, as well as an original '89 Jetta color magazine ad.
