additive use...

« on: May 20, 2011, 10:14:22 PM »
Can additives such as " seafoam" be used in beetle engines to help clean out the fuel system and oil sytem .  With all the ethanol in the gas these days they help minimize the crap left by the ethanol.

the  rx7 guys said to add 2 cycle oil to the gas in my rotary engine.  I bet it would counter act the ethanol  corrosiveness in a bug.  It can't hurt and probally increases compression

What "crap" is left by ethanol?  It burns cleaner and leaves no residue.  If you already have "crap" in your system it will loosen it up and may introduce it to a filter. The ethanol also goes into solution with water, so you don't have problems with water condensation in your tank. Other than a slight decrease in BTU per lb with E10 it's all positives..
