A little hard to start after driving...

« on: July 09, 2005, 05:03:42 PM »
Hey there everyone,

I am back and I need some help please. I have a 1971 super beetle with a brand new newly rebuilt engine. Brand new carb, new points, new coil, new bosch wires, new bosch plugs new everything... Anyway when I drive the car and then park it and go into a store when i come back she doesn't want to just fire right up like she will when she is cold. Also this is how it goes when I drive her then park her and come back 30 min later. I get into the car and don't depress the accelerator at all. And all she does is windes over untill i hold the gas pedal down the she starts. I know that my battery is old and that is not new, I also noticed that when she windes over for a sec or two she starts to drag. I need help on this. She cranks up and runs ok when cold. I think the choke may need set a little more because when i start it , when cold i usally have to go in the back of the car and put the choke on her more to get her to idol good. And when I first start to drive her only after she has set all night or a couple 3 hours she wants to miss with me, then i just keep on the gas and after a few minutes she don't have a problem with power until you turn the car off and go into a store, then there comes the starting problems. Please help me and thank you for reading this longgg story..

Thanks smelly for the website, I guess everyone is out to vacation. Anyway I adjusted the fast idle arm because i noticed on the bottom of the cam it wouldn't have any drag against the cam step and i guess not allowing the butterfly  valve or disc to open enough so i readjusted that and the volume screw and the bypass screw and that seemed to help quite abit. I also noticed after i adjusted the butterfly that she didn't cut out any at all on acceleration. This is weird but I am not complainin. LOl. Thanks smelly
