914 Carb help

« on: February 07, 2011, 09:06:26 PM »
One of my co-workers approached me the other day to ask if I knew of anyone that could solve a carb problem on his 914.

So, here goes.  It's a 914/6 with Webers.  Dual Webers.  He says it's got a low rpm stumble and once you get into the higher rev range it's ok.  If anyone knows of someone in town who might be able to help him it would be greatly appreciated.

David, I can hear you laughing already.     ;)

P.S.  I told him to make life easy and convert it to Fuel Injection.

I didn't know 6 cly 914's came with webers or did it ?   I'm not laughing I'm just surprised to learn that there was a 914-6 in town. Those dang things would haul ass when things were right.  What kind of Webers 40mm ,44mm,48mm ?  Those carbs had a idle, mid range, high range jetting if I remember right. You might call Waymon at Eurasian Auto.  He may work on them or know someone who does. Good Luck with that one.

It's one of my German co-workers.  He told me he had to take a 300km road trip in Germany to find someone to get the carbs tuned right.  Don't know the specifics on the carbs but I heard dual Webers and cringed.

I'll have him give Waymon a call and see if he can help him out.
