&@#%$ Lights !!!!!!!

« on: October 28, 2008, 12:49:09 PM »
Ok i am getting tired of asking questions about lights. well last night i came out from work and my rear drivers side tail light was out.  I did the standard hit on the lense and it did not come on. I checked and all the other lights worked fine and so did the blinkers. I took off the lense this morning and checked the bulb and it was good. Turned on the lights and they still all work. Blinkers and break lights front and back. I even chainged the bulb. It still did not work.  So i am sitting with the lights on the drivers side  ( front and back ) not comming on unless i use the blinkers. Now i know it is something simple to fix so give me a break on my stupidity........Rob      :D

We used to fix a lot of these little electrical issues at Jims by simply spinning the fuses in their seats, sometimes they build up corrosion on the tabs.  Also, i may be missing something here, has it always done this one or did this just recently start happening?

Roll the fuses, bulbs jumping out of socket, wirred coroded or fell off...yeah it's all just part of the fun of owning one. Consider it personality.

thanks for all the help pointing me in the right direction. This has just happened. It all worked fine at the Oktoberfest parade and that evening when the wife and i went out for dinner. Monday when i came out to leave work i started up the car and turned on the lights and when i got out to put on my jacket ( kind of cold ). I saw that it was out. I am thinking of just pulling all the venting, radio etc out this weekend and going from switch to switch and wire to wire and checking it all. However i will check all the ideas that you guys have said it could be first........

On other forums there are things I could post to reply to that. Use your imagination on what I might say. :-#  Theres not an icon with a lil finger so duct tape on the mouth is close enough. Rember "Silence is golden but ducktape is silver!"

Heated seats?  I had a heated seat in a bug once, but it didn't last too long.  By the way, if your fat and don't have any type of cover over your battery, don't sit on the right side of the rear seat.

well i got out this morning and and worked on the rear drivers side running lights problem i was having. Needless to say after pulling the light and going over it and checking the wires under the hood and pulling some fuses and cleaning better where the fuses sit the light IS WORKING. So now i have all the lights but the licence plate light working. A number of other things to do on it for the winter but i can drive it now at night again and not be afraid of getting a ticket for no tail light. Thanks again for all the help in what to look for.

They can still give you a ticket for the plate light!
I'd pullya over and give ya a ticket just for painting a bug yeller!
Maybe you could swap it for the blood drive yeller bug and they wouldn't notice?

i was thinking of swaping it for that 68 you talked about in the other forum after you took out the motor and transmission ( blood donation car ) and go from there or for a 94 ford ranger xlt truck. I also have figured out another paint scheme that when it warms up again i might do ........
