Stocking Full of Love Car Show

For the past three years the Scenic City Volks Folks have ran the Walker County Stocking Full of Love's Labor Day Car Show in Rock Spring, GA. The first year we took on this cause, they were on verge of dropping the car show altogether. The show had been a huge success for several years, but a couple of years of association with what turned out to be a less than honorable car club and a couple of years of bad weather and the show had dropped off from its largest showing of nearly 300 cars down to only a handful. We are proud to say that the show is on its way back up. The 2006 show attracted approximately 165 show cars and lots of vendors. For the first time in several years the spectator parking lot filled to overflowing and people took to parking alongside Hwy. 27. We haven't heard any dollar figures yet, but this is undoubtedly one of the biggest weekends the Stocking Full of Love has had. In addition to the car show on Labor Day, there is a Sock Hop on Saturday night and a motorcycle poker run on Sunday. Stocking Full of Love Volunteers told us that all three of these events had a higher than expect turnout this year.

Funds raised through these efforts are used to buy food and gifts for underprivileged kids in the area. On their behalf, we would like to thank everyone who attended, and a very special thanks to those who volunteered!
Thanks To Everyone Who Attended Bug-A-Paluza 8

What was forecasted as a two quickly passing bands of thunderstorms late Friday evening and early Saturday morning stalled out directly over Camp Jordan for most of the night and turned a damp field into a mud hole. Without the understanding and help of everyone attending the show we could have never pulled the show out of the mud (literaly) and moved it to slightly higher and MUCH drier ground. We hope everyone had a great time despite wet ground and mud. Without all of you who come out and Show, Vend, Camp or just come to look around, Bug-A-Paluza wouldn't exist. Thanks Again!

Bug-a-Paluza 8 show results are posted in our Events Forum and we have a large collection of Bug-a-Paluza 8 photos posted in our gallery.
Bug-A-Paluza Time!

If you are not at Camp Jordan, you are missing Bug-A-Paluza! This is a RAIN OR SHINE event. The rain from the past few days has the field wet, but it will be drying out as the weekend moves along. When the sun went down Friday evening, the vendor area was almost full and a the turnout of campers was larger than expected considering the wet weather.

The gates open at 8:00 Saturday morning and the awards presentation is scheduled to begin at 3:30 Sunday afternoon.

If you need information that can't be found at bugapaluza.com, please call Zen @ 423-605-9816 or Kyle @ 423-421-9406. We hope to see you this weekend at Camp Jordan!

Do you have a VW sitting in your back yard waiting on “someday?” Someday is this weekend! The swap meet will be running over with new and used parts to put that old Volkswagen back in tip top shape! If you have questions about how to fix your VW, we will have a retired factory trained mechanic with over 40 years experience on Volkswagens kicked back under a shade tree to answer any technical questions you might have.

Are you looking for a VW? Come browse through our “For Sale Corral.” Your new (to you) VW may be there waiting for you! Have you got too many projects? The For Sale Corral is a good place to thin your VW herd!

And don’t forget that the Shrine Ladies will be cooking up some of the best burgers and hot dogs around! This is shaping up to be the biggest and best Bug-A-Paluza yet. So bring the whole family out to Camp Jordan this weekend and enjoy all the festivities!

Spectator entrance to the show is $2 and 2 cans of food (Children under 12 are free). Proceeds from the show support the Shrine Ladies Helping Hands and the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.
Bug-A-Paluza Flyer Typo!!!

If you received or downloaded a flyer, please be aware that we goofed...there are a couple of typos that you should be aware of. On the directions to the show, any reference to Interstate 65 should be Interstate 75. Also, the show dates are April 22nd and 23rd as stated on the front of the flyer...NOT April 16th and 17th as stated in the registration portion! These mistakes have been corrected and any flyers that we mail out or you download from this point on will be correct.

We also welcome non-club members to stop by and visit us! We are a family oreinted organization, kids are welcome too! We are a very diverse group of individuals with one thing in common, we are all Volkswagen enthusiast. In the words of Jerry Clower "We got so many ways, y'all are bound to like some of 'em!"

If you can't make the club meeting, don't forget that we have an informal cruise-in on the first Friday night of each month. This year we are going to try a rotating the cruise-ins at various outdoor locations around the area. Keep an eye on our events forum for location details!
Attention all club members: We still need door prizes and goodie bag items!

Also, if you get bored anytime soon, we still have plenty of work to do to get ready for the show. Contact Herb, Lamar or Zen if you want to set up some time to work off that nervous energy sanding, routing, staining, painting, drilling and all that fun stuff that goes into our Bug-A-Paluza trophies!
VW Connecting Rods Needed!

As you are probably aware, members of the Scenic City Volks Folks spend hundreds of man/woman-hours each year producing our hand-made trophies for Bug-A-Paluza. If we are going to continue topping the trophies with genuine Volkswagen connecting rods, we must continue to depend on your donations. If you have any old rods in any condition that you plan on tossing out, please consider tossing them our way! We'll have them blasted, primed, painted and clear-coated and bolt 'em down on top of one of the 150 or so trophies we make each year.

If you have any rods you would like to donate, please contact us.
