I'll have you to know that the only buses I DON'T care for are  '72 up.  These new folks at least had the good fortune to purchase one of the best models with a proper engine. Slow but reliable if taken care of. If they have a engine problem down the road at least they won't have to get a Federal Grant to fix it and having to supply Tums & Rolaids and a stint in Re-hab for the poor mech.

As far as your teenage weed problem, put some leafs from a tomato plant in a Zip-Loc bag, get cash in hand and then  pass it out the window just before the light turns green.      Don't pay any attention to KC, our North Ga. Yes I am a local to chattanooga and I really like the tomato leaf idea! I have also had about a hundred people tell me their VW bus story! Everyone it seems either had one or coveted the one their friend had. We have already had some engine problems. We just replaced the starter, all the spark plugs and a valve set. This weekend we have to replace the ignition switch. Luckily Mainly Foreign Car Parts has either had or been able to order anything we need. We are still trying to nail down whats wrong with the break lights....simply put they won't work. The bulbs are fine but something in the wiring is off. Other than that she's in good condition however a previous owner put a bunch of decals on the windows...any recommendations for taking them off. we have tried Goo off with little success I have also tried steaming them.

Heat gun from Harbor Freight.
Overgrown hair dryer, scrape with plastic scrapper (also at HF).
The heat will soften them up.

The brake lights are probably bad grounds. Make sure the little brown wires are on clean screws into clean metal or the little push on terminals are clean and well grounded. Get a multimeter tool and check the voltage going into the brake light housing off of a known good ground (like the battery, which is right there!) and see if you are getting the 12vs going into the light. I  bet you are and the old grounds are causing the problem.

As for the windows, get a razor blade window scraper and go to town. They should peel right off with a flat blade against the glass. Don't dig the corner in or it might scratch it!

Whatever you do, if a Chattooga County Georgia Deputy pulls you over and asks "Do you know your brake lights aren't working?"  DO NOT smile and say "That's OK, my brakes don't work either."  For some odd reason they don't seem to have a sense of humor.
