Multi-function indicator?  I didn't even know it had one!  Maybe I need to get an owner's manual and read through it.   Grin

It's all back together!  Then I pulled the door pannel off the passenger side to replace the door handle.  This isn't going much faster than the heater core.   Undecided

There was time in my life that I wanted to be a mechanic. I even spent a year at Walker Tech and graduated on the Director's List.  They said I was the first student to graduate the auto mechanic's program with a 4.0.  The biggest thing I learned is that while I could do just about any job thrown at me and usually did excellent work, I was WAY TOO SLOW to make a living at it.

I've been told this Heater Core job is an 8 hour job.  I spent 8 hours trying to figure out where the last 3 wires plugged in.  I wasn't working on it solid, and I spent about half of the time I was "working" on it at the computer looking at the manual or doing "research" on the internet, and there were a couple of days I didn't touch it at all and a couple of days the rain really limited what I could do to it, but still . . . it took me 12 days to do an 8 hour job.  Since I had the time off and probably wouldn't have done anything else productive, it was still worthwhile for me, but the bottom line is, I like to eat.  I wouldn't be buying many groceries on what I could earn as a mechanic!

A couple of days ago I had to add coolant to the Passat.  I thought the low coolant was due to a slow leak in a plug on the plastic piece all the hoses hook to.  I have plug and some o-rings on order, and I've already got the new plastic piece.  I figured as soon as the plug and o-rings get here, I'd have the coolling system in this thing sealed back up 100%.

Then, Franny told me last night that the driver's floor was soaking wet again.   Shocked Angry Roll Eyes Huh? Undecided :'(

I checked it out today and carpet is soaked, but it's only water . . . no anti-freeze.  Tthe carpet is wet going up to the door, but dry on the tunnel!   Grin Cheesy Grin  I guess she didn't shut her door good the last time it rained.  Even though I'm sure I could do it faster the second time around, I would not have been a happy camper if that new heater core was leaking after just a month!
