There was a guy at my work doing some subcontracting that was wearing a VW shirt. I was telling him about my car problems and he said that he had a 2004 Passat 1.8 turbo and a 2006 Passat and he had to replace the ECU on both of his due to misfire/rough idle issues.

I also taked to a friend of mine whos daughter had a 2005 VW passat 1.8 with misfire/rough idle issues to the VW dealership in Dalton and had to have her ECU replaced as well.

Both of these stories is what made me replace mine. If I know of 3 different Passats that had to have the ECU replaced, then the dealership should see it all the time. Right? I mean it could just be ironic that I just happen to find the only 3 other cars in the Chattanooga area that needed their ECU replaced........but I doubt it.

Any way I just want to post the resolution to my problem so that someone else may get some use out of it in the future.
