Ok, I'm just throwing this out there:
Wifey leaves in 2004 B5.5 wagon auto with 1.8t to go to church tonight.
She stops at a store to pick up some items for the meeting gets back in car to start it and swears that the ignition switch rotated 360* w/o starting car.

She calls me and I start loading up kids into the minivan to save her and have car towed.
She then calls me back after 4 minutes and states that it is working and I ask her to drive home.

I tried and tried to get it to spin around and car is working just normal.
I will drive car tomorrow and test it againm, but I am thinking she stuck the key into the rubber seal around the cylinder.

I pitched this idea to her and got the heck no you didn't look, so I am just going to ask if this has ever happened to anyone else?

Thanks for any experiences and things to look for.

I think they have an anti theft feature that if you put the wrong key in or the right key does not pull the tumblers correctly it will spin

Did it to me this morning.
Only spun once then engaged.
Is there a graphite or other lubricant I can spray into the switch to loosen the tumblers w/o dammaging the electrical stuff whithin?
I appreciate any help.
