And you guys thought I was crazy to make them move that stuff from the old shop...

I've still got the parts department's old microfiche readers too.  Most of the microfiche is in pretty sad shape and the bulb is shot in the one that still has the glass in it, lol.

Check the wiring to the trans,  I have 65 ohms at all of the solenoids from the trans module plug with the harness plugged in at the trans,  I have not seen any wires shorted together ,  I have no resistance on the   Temp sensor?

Summoning the powers of dubtech,  I need some help with the euro van,  could the shorted wires in the harness have toasted the Tcm or solenoids,  do I have a bad solenoid foil strip?

Plug everything back in and see what the TCM thinks the fluid temperature is when the engine is cold.  If the TCM thinks the fluid temp is maxed out then it's a good possibility that the temp sensor is bad. It's a negative temperature coefficient sensor so as the fluid temp rises the resistance goes down.  The temp sensors weren't exactly what you'd call "robust" and you get a free valve body conductor strip when you buy the sensor so...

If you do end up replacing the conductor strip be sure to use the special tool that looks kind of like a tuning fork to disconnect the plugs from the solenoids.  It's really easy to break the connector on the solenoid if you just try to use a screwdriver.

P.S.  Don't get one off Craigslist, the walk to the parts department isn't _that_ far   Wink

I checked MVb 1 to 5 in 5 there was a temp reading and it jumped around at 92 to 112 degrees,  I was thinking that there was a way to activate the solenoids with the scan tool

So with the engine cold the temp reading was 92 to 112?  If so, that sounds like a problem since the TCM reads in Celsius.  As far as activating the solenoids you can try running output diagnostic test mode on the TCM and see if there's something there.

Also, there should be a special tool that hooks up between the transmission and the TCM that has lights on it so you can visually check the signals coming from the TCM.  See if you can find it and dig it out of the tool room.
