I can't figure this out.  The Volvo goes rrrrmmm rrrrmm rrrrmm .at idle sounds and runs like heck.   Fuel pumps are rrrrrring.  We wasted today looking at trimming belt.  Seemed ok.   Can't find a vacuum leak. ..  Please save me.

ok from what I understand is that the 34 works best with a vac distributor, I do have a 009 on the car. So the 34 lacks vaccum at an idle. Not the choke butterfly but the lower one, I have read that if you solider that hole up it would give you back that missing vaccum?? adjust the time a little and it should ok. any wisdom, thoughts on this.

I have read of at least 100 different ways to make a 34 carb/009 distributor combination work.  I've tried 'em all.  I'm not saying it "can't" be done . . . but a couple of years and many, many asprin later, I gave up and bought a 30 carb and adaptor.  Every since then, if I have gotten a VW with this combination, I've chunked the 34 and bought a 30.  And I'm cheap.  I HATE spending money on good parts if I can get a piece of junk to do the job.
