I bet it was six months ago.    Had to replace ign switch with nine dollar one. Car seems ok. The solinoid on starter was toast for some reason.  I had a spare.   To start you had to touch a wire I ran to starter to a hot terminal.    I need some seat covers big time

seat covers..... OK. Might I make another suggestion as well?

I would also recommend a few air fresheners.... or if you dont have any of those, you could always tuck a couple of urinal cakes down there somewhere to help with the smell.

I get up Monday, get in Saab with Chris.  Off to  School and Work.  Its dark, its raining,
The Saab recently had a fire in the cabin due to electric wires so I'm feeling confident that nothing flammable is left.

We get about 10 miles and the Saab starts slowing down .  I'm thinking maybe the alternator or battery is going out.   We pull over to the last gas station for 10 miles and I check things out .  all is well I guess.  Time for me to make a decision.    Go forth or go back.  This was a bigger decision than I wanted to make at 7:15 AM  on a Monday.  The rain made my decisions for me... retreat.  Away we sputter..  every 2 miles or so I conk out ..wait a minute.. restart  and go  a little further.  I get about a mile from the house an all we can do is idle in 2nd gear.   bucking and conking .  Chris is getting a little tired of this.  I'm turning off the lights until I see another car coming and them flick them on..I was thinking it would save some battery or something.  I get over the last hill and we are able to coast into the drive way.   We switch to the Rx7.  resume our journey to work.  Make it.  whew..

Tuesday night I decide to work on the saab.  What can the problem be?.. I find nothing and decide that I must have magically fixed it.  Off I go in the dark.  Hey! its running well.  I'm a Genius.  With a big smile, I drive about a mile away to turn around.  Uh Oh..  Saab slowing,   Anger and panic increasing.  I buck my way to the first drive way I see.  I sit in the drive way at 7:20 Pm,  Its dark,, Its cold.  I reach for my Cell phone.  No phone.  reach for my wallet, no wallet,.  I'm hanging over the roof of the saab ,  the orange hazard lights are a blinking prettily.  I try to remember one cell phone number to call before I go to the nearby house to beg a phone call. I got nothing,  cant remember a thing.   I wander to the front door of the darkened home.  I knock on a door.  Nothing.  A car passes and illuminates the area.  I'm knocking on the garage.  I notice a front porch in the glum.  I knock again.  I back  up from the door   in case an angry home owner comes out armed, So I can run  away.  A pleasant woman opens the door and tell my tale of car woe.  She hollers' into the home "  Honey,  I'm going to drive this stranger home".    I'm a little stunned that someone would so readily decide I'm not a threat,  but then again I do take zoomba class and have a knitting machine.  We push the Saab out of the way,  at least if rolls easy, My rescuer is a good car pusher.  We jump in her truck and drive  the mile back to my house.   She lets me leave the Saab at her house since its cold and dark and I'm pretty sick of my swedish car.   I can't  wait to drag it home Wednesday

Sounds like a fuel problem, could be filter? or pump(s)?
Just a shot in the dark here...

My wife took me with the tow rope and we wrangled the Saab home behind the sienna.   I picked a bad week to be on the wagon .  No beer till I run this 5 k on sat,   Yep,  I reckon it's the fuel pump.  The one I am using came out of a pull apart car a year or so ago.  I stored it dry in my barn.  But it worked for a while...   I went on eBay and there was a universal pump for 20 bucks,   I ordered it.    Sc
