Herrell Bug Parts announcement
by Herrell-Bug-Parts Today at 11:36 am

To Whom It May Concern:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you, our valued customers, of the recent burglary that has occurred at our facility and to briefly describe our efforts…

During the incident, approximately $30,000 worth of new and used air-cooled parts were stolen, including turnkey engines, various engine parts and rims. Unfortunately, a majority of the items were the property of our customers and constituents. We sincerely apologize for this loss.

As many of you know, Herrell Bug Parts is considered the southeast region’s premiere location for air-cooled parts and vehicle restorations. We possess over 75 years of combined experience in the industry, and we appreciate each and every customer who chooses to partner with us.

Our business truly is a labor of love, and we value our reputation among members of the air-cooled restoration community as a dedicated and dependable small business. Unlike larger operations, we do not possess the monetary resources to facilitate the instant replacement of stolen items or the immediate reimbursement for this loss.

We understand that many of the parts that were stolen were either one-of-a-kind or are in limited supply, and we are working closely with investigators at the Carroll County Sheriffs Department to locate and recover the stolen merchandise.

At this time, little information is known about the details of the break-in, but there is no doubt that the loss we have suffered is severe and the situation is dire. We will work tirelessly to see that this matter is promptly resolved.

If you have any information about the items that were stolen or if you discover anything related to their present location, please contact Lindy Herrell at 770-836-0749 as soon as possible.

As always, or customers matter to us. Thank you for your business and support throughout the years, and we hope that you will continue to support us throughout this ordeal. We will continue to keep you informed about new details and developments as they emerge, and together, we will bring the responsible parties to justice.

Sincerely,

Lindy Herrell
Owner and Operator

That's blows. Seems like he is having trouble down there because there was a post about a year ago from a Baja owner who had his engine stolen. I can't imagine that this will go unresolved due to the rareness of some VW parts- lazy thieves arent going to make drastic enough changes to anything before they try to sell them. I just hope the scrap yards have been warned

I've been to Lindy's place a few times over the years.  When I was there last year, I noticed that he had fences and gates that previously hadn't been there.  For years, the place was kind'a wide open at night and he never had issues.  Now you can't build fences high enough or strong enough to low life, good for nothing thiefs out.  I pray that they catch the b@$*#ds that did this and prosicute them to the full extent of the law.

Be on the lookout for anyone selling engines or rims at a bargin price . . .

Thats to bad.  We had trouble like that with our shop for a while. We ended up with the fence thing but we added rolls of razor wire. The thieves still got in. Then we added a monster Rochweller(?) that couldn't bark. Can you imagine what happened one night when a pair of thieves were trying to get a set of wheels off a car and Ole Bear dog walked up on  them. The thieves were trapped between 2 cars and chose to go over the fence/razor wire. We found about a 4 sq" piece of black skin stuck in the razor wire and a another smaller piece of lighter skin a foot away. Blood everywhere. Police found them at Mem. Hosp. emer. room that morn.  We had no more problems.

What was really funny was that car ,a Audi 4000, belong to one of the thief. It had a blown engine and he was trying to steal the high price rims to sell to get money to fix his engine and try to make our insurance pay for it.  The police told us about it.  He still paid the price for breaking and interring . We junked the car 90 days later.
