My driveway is currently large chunks of broken bricks covered by treated plywood and bus cargo floor mats.   Cheesy

I thought you just said you didn't have the money to finish it!  I'm still saving broken bricks . . . getting ready to upgrade mine!   Grin

Well... that couldn't have gone much worse if I tried... allow me to list the mistakes/ errors occurred...

1.) My Halogen fixture died on me, so I was going off of my garage lighting only, and it was getting dark by the time I got started..... Lots of flourescents, but still all above, so low side lighting was poor. I thought I would be able to see well enough. I was wrong. Ended up with some runs/sags down low on the rear quarters/doors...

2.) My plastic was carefully draped on the floor. I never have taped it down. I will from now on. At some point, after I had already painted the roof, a nasty thunderstorm moved in, along with it some strong wind. The gap I was using as a vent for my fans had the opposite effect, and as I was painting the lower areas, a strong wind came in from below, blowing my plastic all the way forward, and tagging the paint in the process on the driver's side...

3.) I failed to clean out the strainer in my HVLP gun before starting... again... something I will do from now on... It started spitting on me at the tail end, so the paint is none too even there...

4.) At some point the same offending wind rushed in through the side windows (screened, thank heavens, but open for ventalation) and blew my large project board off the work table, taking with it the plastic I had draped over the surface to protect it, stirring up some dust for good measure, which found it's way to the roof, of course...

So, all in all, it went terribly. I do think the roof is decent, should sand down and polish out just lovely... the lower sections, not so sure. I will try, but am thinking the best bet would be to flat it really well, then apply one last coat of paint to that area. That's probably where I am at there.

The color is pretty, though... and, in spite of the needed fixing, I am smiling from having shiny paint on the car once again.

Nothing that can't be fixed with a little effort...

Anyways... a pic of the pretty shiny...

That sucks! Sounds like the kind of luck I would have painting a car.

I'm glad I used a roller!

I did strip a bus one time, and you could tell where I sanded it, that there were distinct BRUSH STROKES in the paint....  Cheesy

Wet sanding the roof last night:

And, from tonight... got the lower sections and tail flatted, sanded down, and re-sprayed.  Not perfect (never intended to be), but a WHOLE LOT nicer.

Nice little shine going on... wait till it gets wet-sanded...

Thanks to my mistake with the paint, I ended up mixing the entire lot of paint I got from the paint shop.  Talk about close, this was the contents of my gun when I finished up...  Embarrassed

And, I just thought this looked cool, sitting on my box at home. so I thought I would take a pic for no reason.   Grin

Moving around the body... wet-sanding and buffing galore... still have to finish the right front fender and the hood.

Amanda and the girls were sitting at the kitchen table that she had covered with towels to protect it.  Polishing, and shining up the chrome and stainless bits.  Piles of shiny stuff waiting to go back on the body.

She's lookin' great, really starting to come together.   Cool

Also, got the wheels painted up and ready... waiting on the tires that have been sitting at work.

A slightly better pic.  Not easy to get them in the ever-so-spacious garage.

She still needs a bit more attention here and there, but I got her done just in time for the big day.  I was hoping she'd make it down the mountain and to the Stone Fort Inn.  Then, if she'd just make it down the block and out of sight, if I had to call a roll-back, I was good.  But, she performed flawlesslly all the way home.  We are in Nashville now, with Amanda's mom.  Days before the wedding, we got the call we were most dreading.  Her cancer had spread into her spinal cord, and she's in a private room at Vanderbuilt Hospital now.  The family gathered together as planned for the wedding, then loaded up and headed here.  Bernadette is alert and feisty, so we are having enjoying some family time right now.

The bride was gorgeous, and the car looked pretty good, too.  Saturday was a great day!

A couple of pics...

Wow! I just went back to page one for a comparison on how it looked when you got it vs. today. It looks great! Congrats and I wish the best for Amanda's mom.
